The message console beeped and flashed its lights. Another directive from Calculator was coming through. "I hope you brought your water wings, because Ocean Master's got a job for you... He's got a solid plan to take out the local outpost of his half-brother, Aquaman." Calculator also promised a fish fry. This was too good to pass up.

Terri met with Ocean Master on a ship just off the coast of Little Bohemia. Ocean Master's fleet needed support to advance on Metropolis. All she had to do was take out some Atlantean Boarders and sabotage some generators on their frigates. Terri was a little dubious of the "sand dollars" offered as payment but being rich in Atlantis had to be as good as being rich anywhere else.

The first Atlantean ship offered little resistance. The defenders were no match for Terri's sorcery or any of the other local villains attacking the vessel. "For Atlantis!" they yelled before falling over from exo-powered blasts of energy, weapon strikes or maybe too much sun. The generators were being disabled and the mission was going as planned.

Terri swooped down to the next ship drawing attention from the Atlanteans. She cleared out the defenders and approached the turrets defending the generators. Blasting pure energy from her hands she could see the machinery starting to shut down. Still, the gun held its barrel up and fought back. Terri blasted some more but the machine would not yield. "That's odd," she thought. Turning to the next turret Terri unleashed a steady stream of power. It buckled and started to give, but in a moment it was back to full power and resisting. "No!" Terri yelled, "Something is wrong here." The next turrent was being attacked by two others and Terri added her blasts to theirs, but again the machine would not break, would not fall, would not stop fighting back. Even summoning powerful magic beings and spells could not break the generator's resolute warden. "What Atlantean trickery is this!?" she yelled. The mission could not fail. She must find a way to defeat these unbeatable turrets.

Many villains aspire to be the greatest ever known. Becoming an archenemy of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman or even Aquaman won't happen overnight. It takes years of study, practice and gathering information on how best to defeat your target. Icons like Lex Luthor, the Joker and Circe are powerful but Terri knew even those people had to learn from others along the way. The best way to beat these turrets would be with knowledge. Terri needed to consult with others to find a new approach, and this led to a tried-but-true method: deception.

A straight on assault had become ineffective. Whatever magic the Atlanteans had employed was working. They knew she was coming and what she was after. So Terri decided to give them what they wanted: security. Perhaps she could bait the defenders into a feeling of safety. Terri returned to the ship but kept a distance, watching from above as she hovered in the sky. Time passed and the craft appeared to settle down from the seige it withstood only hours before. The area was clear of attackers and the Atlanteans, while still observant, began to relax just a little. Just enough.

Scanning the ship for a good entry position, Terri picked her spot and charged in at full speed. She went straight for the closest turret and unleashed her fury. Casting one damaging spell after another, the turret could not resist this time. Atlanteans rushed to its defense but they were too late. The once unbeatable, unkillable turret had fallen. With the barrel pointed downward and its will depleated, the generator it once protected was vulerable. Terri continued to fight off Atlantean defenders attempting to stop her from shutting down the generator. Finally, the ship was disabled and Ocean Master's plan could continue. He was pleased and invited Terri along in attacking the local outpost defended by Aquaman. This had been a hard fight but a lesson learned.

"Patience is a conquering virtue." [Geoffrey Chaucer, from the Canterbury Tales]
