Underworld Trials Faster & Master

Beta Babe gets the credit for this with just a few small details from me. Some of the regulars we run with are used to this already, but it would be good to get as many as possible into this routine. Some of it takes long enough to explain in-game that it cancels out the time savings of the "Faster Run." Hence, the creation of this guide!

Underworld Trials: Faster

This is for players who already have all feats and are just running this alert daily for marks, coins, materials and/or the Gorgonslayer style.



1) From the entrance, take the wing with the least number of red dots. This will likely be the faster side, assuming you don't get Punishers and Bowmasters.

2) For the Minotaur boss fight, you'll want to start with the chain to the left of his starting point and go counterclockwise around the room. This is the pattern with the least amount of dungeon crawling because you'll be ending at a chain adjacent to the secret/trap room.

3) Clear the first room of Medusa's Lair normally and collect the egg.

4) Have 3 players stand on the tile in front of the Phoenix Room. One player will walk into the room and stand on the tile in the center, which will teleport to the secret Cockatrice Nest. Defeat the 2 birds and collect the 2nd egg. Exit the room.

5) All players should now enter the Phoenix Room and complete the fight. Immediately after the 3rd round, move to the next room (this is a Phoenix Vengeance run as well).

6) Clear the last room.

7) Move on to Medusa's Room and defeat her.

The key timesaver in this run as opposed to the standard Phoenix Vengeance run is you never go to the left side of the dungeon at all. In place of the full room of adds you would have to do, it's just one player fighting 2 birds (that are scaled for solo).

Underworld Trials: Master

This is the path we use to get first timers all feats and all briefings in a single run. You need to be familiar with the fast run above because this will use the same setup to get the Phoenix Vengeance feat. Then you'll backtrack to get the Poached Egg feat too. Normally it would take 2 runs.



1) From the entrance, take either wing and get the hidden briefing. Then go around and clear the other side to get the hidden briefing there. You should be 2/4 for the briefing.

2) Do the boss fight the same way as the Fast Run, never letting him miss a chain for the Stampede feat.

3) Clear the first room of Medusa's Lair normally and collect the egg.

4) Get the 2nd egg the same way as the fast run and do the Phoenix boss fight in order to setup the Phoenix Vengeance feat.

5) Clear the last room. Pull the lever to get the 3rd egg in the hidden room.

6) Instead of going into the final room, you want to back out to the entrance again. The Vengeance feat is already setup. Now it's time to go back and get the other eggs for the Poached feat.

7) From the entrance, go to the left side. Clear that room and pick up the 4th egg. You'll also get a briefing here for 3/4.

8) Clear the next room. Pull the lever for a hidden room with the last briefing... 4/4. Then move on to the next room of adds. Clear it for the 5th egg and Poached feat.

9) Back out to the entrance. Enter the Phoenix Room and break left immediately to avoid the one-shot. Move ahead to Medusa's Room and defeat her without getting stoned. You will be awarded Phoenix Vengeance and Looks Could Kill feats at the end of the fight!

This was a great idea Alyssa! Thanks for the mention - your so kind! This is a very well written guide which everyone can benefit from. It is nice for when your trying to help a new JG or advancing an alt and your trying to remember - "how did I do that again"?

Also, as wonderful as AF3 is time is an issue for most of us and it helps to shave of some of the grinding time allowing for other things.

You haven't slowed the group in any run! But it'll take time for others to get used to this method. It's very non-standard. Most fast runs, not only PUG, but also in the league will go for the first egg on the left side rather than the hidden one. It's only a small difference in speed really. The fast run in this thread often takes longer to explain, but worth it for the league because we're running it together every day.
