re: JG Ally: Starheart Sage

0
Heroic Alias: Starheart Sage
Real Name: Kayzma Sagett
Age: Early 20s
Hometown: Metropolis
Powerset: Hard Light
Movement: Flight

Background:

Billions of years ago, the Guardians of the Universe collected up all the stray magical energies in the Universe together into an orb named "The Starheart". Although hidden away, the Starheart grew consciousness as the "Green Flame of Life", and sent a fragment of itself into the galaxy. This fragment landed on earth 2000 years ago in China where a chinese man named Chang forged the fragment into a lantern. In the 1940s, Alan Scott would find this lamp, and become the first "Green Lantern" of Earth, but he was not a member of the Green Lantern Corps.

During a summer vacation from college, Kayzma Sagett took a specially funded trip from the University of Metropolis where she was attending to China in order to help teach english to poor villagers in the mountains of China. While on this trip, she found a sliver of the Starheart Fragment, which had remained hidden in the ground for the past 2000 years. She took the fragment home, and set it into her old high school class ring. It wouldn't be until the War of the Light throughout metropolis that she would notice a significant change in the sliver she found.

As she came in contact with the emerald mist, the sliver in her ring glowed. Through pure determination an focus, she discovered how to tap into the Green Flame of Life, and started to research and experiment on the emerald mist. With the emerald mist, she found a way to enhance her connection to the Green Flame of Life and the Starheart. That is, however, until she met Alan Scott in person.

Alan Scott was not happy with how she was manipulating the Green Flame of Life. While she was using her power for good, she was abusing the power by connecting to the Starheart's powers via an unnatural way by using the mist. He forcefully removed her ring, and drained all the emerald mist from her in order to sever her connection. However, she would not be deterred.

She had learned enough in her short time studying the sliver of the Startheart that there was another way to connect, but she needed a major boost. She began to saturate herself in emerald mist, and began collecting more and more mist to accomplish her goal. With the saturation of her body in the emerald mist along with intense focus, she achieved an almost mystical connection to the Green Flame of Life.

She found a ritual that would allow her to connect to and use the Green Flame of Life, but was more on the lines of a magical connection rather than connecting via a ring like Alan Scott. Also, she found that she did not need a battery like he did. Recharging her "energies" required periods of meditation and focus. She had become a type of sorceress.

For a while, everything was fine. She performed her ritualistic meditations each day, focused on the Flame, and was able to conjure various energy constructions through her incantations and gestures. However, the early saturation of her body with the emerald mist was taking it's toll. Her skin began to turn a greenish shade, as did her hair and eye color. While she no longer needed the mist to use her magic, she found herself drawn to it's addictive properties that boosted her abilities. However, each use destroyed more and more of her body, only to be replaced by pure energy.

Like a flesh eating radiation, the mist energy she had been using to boost her powers was eating her body from the inside out. By the time she realized what was going on, her left lung, most of her right lung, half of her liver, most of her intestinal tract, and 75% of her muscle mass had been eroded away and replaced with pure emerald energy, as if the organs were energy constructs keeping her alive.

She returned to Alan Scott and confessed to what she did. He agreed to help save her life, but every course of action either nearly killed her or sped up the erosion of her body. Alan Scott finally communed with the Starheart itself, which hinted that the erosion of her body was a good thing. Eventually, Kayzma's body was completely obliterated and replaced with pure energy of the Green Flame of Life. She has since resumed her heroic career known as The Starheart Sage.
