What makes a Hero?


Is it Superpowers, vast intellect, or sophisticated gadgets and technology?
Is it fame, wealth, power, or the prestige to accomplish what others cannot?
Is it perhaps magic, mutation, or alien DNA?

NO

It is none of these things.
They are but constructs – tools for good or ill.
While we have been blessed with gifts greater or lesser than others – this – is not the mark which defines us.

IT IS

The answer to the cry in the dark of desperation.
The unyielding courage to stand when we are afraid.
To defend the weak in their time of need.
To be strong for them.

IT IS

To protect what we know is right.
To decide each day we shall be good and strive to rise from our imperfections.


IT IS

To show love, compassion, mercy, and forgiveness.
To acknowledge our strength lies within our spirit – guided by our faith, beliefs, and dreams.

IT IS

The willingness to sacrifice for the greater good.
To not listen when we are told it is impossible – but rather to face the odds head on – proud – brave – true.

IT IS

To act.
