The birth of Ark Lite

Kate Rayne was just your everyday average teenage kid. Nothing fantastically special. Solid student, into sport, good group of friends, just a happy normal kid. But then, so was every other teenage girl in Smallville, with one notable exception, her best friend, Kara Kent. Kate took an instant liking to Kara when she arrived at Smallville High and the 2 soon became inseparable friends, even going to Metropolis together to visit Kara's cousin, Clark and his wife Lois Lane for a week and also an opportunity for her to visit with her sister Rachel.

It was also while in Metropolis she met another friend of Kara's, Cassandra Sandsmark (Wonder Girl). It didn't take long at all (maybe 5mins) for Cassie and Kate to know they'd be friend's and the 3 spent almost the entire time together. It was while Kate was in Metropolis the her sister Rachel was hit by an Exobyte, infusing her with the power of flight and the ability to harness Fire, though Kate was not aware this had happened.

It was a normal day on the day that would set event's in motion that would change Kate's forever. It started out a little overcast, though the weather called for rain later that day. This annoyed Kate as she was wanting to get some track time in after school and hoped the rain would hold off, but her mind was on her sister who she hadn't heard from for some time and she also hoped the training would take her mind off her for a little while. 3 laps in and the rain started to fall. Light at first but quickly became heavier with thunder accompanying. Kate dashed across the oval, running for the change room, while above her, breaking through the clouds, an Exobyte was heading straight to her. Only this one was different, only holding the power of flight and above avg strength. Until a bolt of lightning flashed and the Exobyte passed through a bolt of lightning, damaging it slightly, but not before it absorbed the power of electricity and hit Kate just as she reached the bleachers and her water bottle, knocking her off her feet. A little dazed, she picked herself up and ran on into the change rooms and was soon home.

At first, nothing happened, save for an annoying habit of constantly zapping people with what she thought was static electricity build up from a pair of new shoes she'd bought while in Metropolis. She kept shaking it off, thinking nothing of it. She was still worried about her sister though. She had heard only that she was going away for a while. Seeing her worried, Kara suggested a trip to go and surprise Cassie. It was on this trip that Kate's destiny would be written.

She and Kara had agreed to meet with Cassie after school. Kara got held up for some reason (attending to a matter as Supergirl), so Kate went alone. When she arrived, Kate saw a blonde girl being attacked. Before she realized, Kate was FLYING over the ground and was at the girl's side in a second. To her surprise she saw it was Wonder Girl, to her shock she saw it was Cassie! The attacker was Silver Swan. Kate's arrival momentarily distracted Wonder Girl and Silver Swan lashed out and sent her reeling back. Anger at seeing her friend hurt surged through Kate and before she knew what had happened, lightning bolt's flared from her hands, striking Silver Swan and knocking her back. Not used to the discharge, Kate was dazed and dizzy and Swan sent her flying back.

After the fight was over, Cassie helped Kate to her feet, and ignoring the gawky on-lookers the 2 flew off to a quiet spot where Cassie revealed her story to Kate and also told her about Brainiac and the Exobytes and later, she and Kara went to Kate and offered her the chance to go to a place to learn to control her new found power. Kate agreed and was surprised at how encouraging her parents were when she told them and after revealing herself as Supergirl, the 3 friend's flew to Themyscira where Kate was introduced to Cassie's half sister, Wonder Woman. Kate could only stare, gaping like a landed trout as the Amazonian Princess walked forward, smiling and embraced her, welcoming her. She told Kate that though the coming time would be hard and long, the end would be rewarding beyond measure. But before she would start, there was one other that wanted to also welcome her.

Landing silently behind her, Wonder Woman turned Kate around and she found herself staring into the softly glowing red eyes of her sister Rachel, now Solar Rayne. With a cry Kate threw her arms around her sister and they fell to their knees laughing and crying together. In the next few months, under the guidance of her sister, her friend's and her new mentor Wonder Woman, Kate learned to wield and hone her new power's with skill and taking the name Ark Lite, was soon ready to join the fight against Brainiac and aid Wonder Woman and the Sentinals of Magic in their fight against Circe and the dark forces of magic.

Though Wonder Girl managed to partially hide Kate's face after the public battle against Silver Swan, Kate decided to design a suit with head gear to conceal her face and identity, though she now wears a blonde wig over her natural hair that has turned purple.

Ark Lite now fight's not only along side her friend's Supergirl and Wonder Girl, but also with the Justice Girls, joining her sister Solar Rayne, the 2 wielding the power of the elements to defeat any who would choose to oppress the innocent, especially against Circe and her beastiamorphs.

But none more oppressive than the being known only as Brainiac.

Defining Attribute:- due to the damage sustained by the exobyte when it passed through the lightining bolt, the full effects did not manifest completely until Kate was on Themyscira and her eyes changed to a soft violet color and her hair changed to purple.
